The ridge of a thatched roof is the part that joins the elevations together, at the highest point. On thatched roofs, the ridge is often decorative to add character, and thicker than the rest of the roof, as it’s the part that keeps the majority of the weather out. It’s for this reason that the ridges of thatched roofs need replacing more often than the main roof.
